Standards are used to provide uniformity, reliability and safety for all parties concerned. Many bodies issue standards, including trade associations and government departments. Searching for standards Australian standards Fulltext Australian and draft Australian standards from Standards Australia are available online via the Library database Australian Standards Online (ASO). A small collection of Australian standards is also located in the Serials Collection at S 389.05/2. Check the Catalogue using a Keyword search if you are looking for a specific print standard, eg. AS 1486 or print standards on a topic, eg. weld* AND standard*. Australian Standards Online database Access to Australian Standards Online is available to UOW staff and students from the Library's Databases page. Australian Standards Online allows two simultaneous users to download fulltext Australian standards and multiple users to search. Standards files expire 48 hours after downloading. In addition to Australian standards, some international standards can be searched via the Australian Standards Online database. See information about accessing international standards below. International equivs - Enter the number of a known international (ISO) standard to search for its Australian equivalent, or vice versa. International standards International standards organisations may provide searching facilities and options for purchasing individual standards on their websites.
